Freekids BSO Het Eiland

Welcome to Freekids Het Eiland, our after-school care location in the friendly Westerwatering district of Zaandam. We provide out-of-school care for children aged 4 to 13 in one close-knit base group with a maximum of 22 children. Our qualified pedagogical staff collect the children directly from primary school Het Eiland and guide them to our bright, spacious group room that opens onto a secure, fenced playground with a sandpit, play equipment and plenty of loose materials such as balls, bikes and scooters. Every child has a fixed place in our base group, creating familiarity and continuity. We follow a clear daily rhythm that matches the school timetable. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we start at 14:30 with a calm drop-in period, followed by outdoor play. Next we enjoy fruit, vegetables, crackers or yoghurt together and hold a group discussion. Children can then choose from our activity offer or play independently. We close between 17:00 and 18:30. On Wednesday we begin at 12:30 with lunch and provide extra sports and games activities. Our activities are varied and development-oriented: from arts & crafts and dancing to sporty outings to the playground or local shops. During school holidays and study days we collaborate with BSO Freekids Zaandam XL, where a special holiday programme is organised by our activities committee. Parents always receive the schedule in advance so everyone knows what is planned for the day. Safety and health are our top priorities. We maintain a comprehensive Health & Safety Policy and use certified furniture. For excursions we use our BSO bus or cars; our staff are specially trained and certified for this. Communication with parents runs through our parent portal, where we share at least one daily message with photos. Official announcements such as holidays or study days are sent by our Front Office.
