At Dorpsstraat 109 in Castricum, De Wonderberk Kinderopvang B.V. has been providing after-school care for primary school children since September. This location was established with the same anthroposophical vision that has guided our organization since 2007: offering children a familiar, pleasant and safe second home where quality, rhythm and security are paramount. Our after-school care group in Castricum accommodates a maximum of 16 to 22 children per group. The spaces are furnished in a homely style with natural materials such as wooden toys, silk, wool and cotton. This stimulates children's imagination and creativity, aligning with our belief that a calm, natural environment contributes to their well-being. We cook with the children in our own kitchen, using exclusively organic-biodynamic food that we carefully source. Whenever possible, we use vegetables from our own vegetable garden and let the seasons determine what appears on the table. The rhythm of the day is clear and predictable, so children feel safe and secure. De Wonderberk Castricum works closely with the new free school at this location. The after-school care was established to provide a smooth transition after school: children can go directly from school to the care facility, where they can play, relax and if necessary do homework in a familiar environment under the guidance of our pedagogical staff. Our approach is designed to give children space to develop at their own pace. We don't offer standardized activities, but create an environment where children can discover for themselves what they need after a school day. Whether that's rest, playing outside in our green garden, or cooking and eating together – we follow the rhythm of the child.
