Doomijn BSO Betelgeuze

Welcome to Doomijn BSO Betelgeuze, located at Betelgeuze 5 in the heart of Lemmer. We are part of Stichting Doomijn, a nationwide organisation that has been providing high-quality childcare for more than 25 years in Friesland, Overijssel and Gelderland. Our after-school care is housed in primary school OBS Tweespan, so children can reach us safely and familiarly straight after school. Everything we do revolves around play, discovery and being together. We care for up to 55 children aged 4 to 12. Our space is large, bright and directly connected to an extensive kindergarten playground. As soon as school ends, the children dash outside: playing football on the grass, building dens in the sandpit or romping around the playhouses. When it rains we cosy up in our studio for crafts, woodwork or sewing, or we head into the kitchen to cook and bake together in our cooking/baking café. There is always something to do—boredom simply does not exist. We run themes that last the whole year: from the European Championship to National Pancake Day and from Children’s Book Week to seasonal celebrations. The children help decide through our children’s council, so they co-determine whether we spend an afternoon outside or come up with something creative indoors. Making music, singing, sports and movement activities and nature education are all on the programme. We learn from and with each other, both in the lower- and upper-primary groups that regularly seek each other out. Our qualified pedagogical staff are ready every day to give the children a safe, challenging and above all enjoyable time.
