Kindcentrum De Zonnewijzer

Kindcentrum De Zonnewijzer is located at Middenweg 30A in Heerhugowaard, right in the heart of the Butterhuizen, Zuidwijk and Edelstenenwijk neighbourhoods. Our centre is a Jenaplan Child Centre and part of Blosse, an organisation that provides care and education for children from infancy through to secondary school. For after-school care (BSO) we work closely with Blosse Opvang. This partnership creates one close-knit team of professionals from both education and childcare who follow a single pedagogical line. Our BSO is housed in three dedicated rooms inside the school building. We offer before-school care from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. and after-school care from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on every school day, study days and during school holidays. Parents can choose from several packages: BSO school and holiday weeks, BSO school weeks only, or BSO holiday weeks only. We use horizontal grouping: a lower-year group (max. 17 children), a middle-year group (max. 22 children) and an upper-year group (max. 21 children). Each group has a stable base of the same children and staff, providing calm, recognition and safety. Our activities dovetail with the school’s curriculum. Children can take part in workshops, sports and games, creative projects and excursions. We collaborate with a local studio and run a Sport-BSO on Tuesdays led by a specialist coach. Children have plenty of scope to decide for themselves which activities they join. Our pedagogical approach is rooted in the Jenaplan concept: every child is seen as unique and is given space to follow an individual developmental path. Collaboration, independence and responsibility are central. Communication with parents runs through the Kwieb app, where parents receive daily photos and messages about their child’s activities.
