BSO De Terp

BSO De Terp is part of KindeRdam and located within Kindcentrum De Terp at Dorpsstraat 6, Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 13 who attend Jenaplanschool De Terp or Montessorischool Nieuwerkerk. Our pedagogical approach centres on letting children be themselves and giving them as much freedom as possible to shape their own afternoon. Our motto is “Nothing is compulsory, (almost) anything is allowed.” We currently work with three horizontal age groups so that activities fit the children’s world of experience. Children can choose from a wide range of activities: sports and games, cooking and baking, creative arts-and-crafts and technology corners, as well as nature and gardening projects. In fine weather we make full use of the spacious school playground; in bad weather we have a cosy dedicated BSO room with kitchenette, the playroom and the auditorium. Parents experience a warm, familiar atmosphere in which they are actively involved. We value parental involvement and continuously tailor our approach to families’ wishes. We offer before-school care at Montessorischool Nieuwerkerk (Schoolstraat 2) and bring the children to De Terp at 08:15. On Wednesday afternoons after-school care is also provided at the Montessori site. Children are welcome Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 18:30. During school holidays we are open from 07:30 to 18:30.
