De Schaapskooi

Welcome to De Schaapskooi, a Christian primary school and after-school care (BSO) located at Kuperserf 47 in Nijverdal. We are part of the ‘Ieder kind telt’ foundation. Children aged 4 to 12 are given every opportunity to develop optimally in a safe, stimulating environment where trust is the starting point. Our educational approach is built on four core values: trust, individuality, development and togetherness. We believe children are naturally curious and eager to learn. That is why we work on four whole-school themes each year, creating a rich and meaningful learning environment. During these themes, pupils from different groups meet, gain knowledge, learn new skills and collect many hands-on experiences. True understanding arises through personal experience. Co-operative learning is central: together we achieve more than alone. We actively involve parents, partners and other stakeholders in the educational process. Our continuous timetable allows all children to stay at school during the lunch break; years 1 and 2 are free on Monday afternoons and years 1–4 on Friday afternoons. This schedule dovetails seamlessly with our after-school care, so children can move straight to familiar, challenging activities led by professional staff once lessons end. In short, at De Schaapskooi we learn individually and together, in an organisation where every child takes ownership of their own development.
