BSO de Reiger

BSO de Reiger is part of Royal Kids Home and is located within Integral Child Centre (IKC) Horizon at Lijstersingel 22 in Capelle aan den IJssel. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 who are already in primary school. Our group, named ‘De Reiger’, works closely with De Horizon primary school, allowing children to stay in a familiar environment after school hours to play, explore and relax. Our qualified pedagogical staff are ready every weekday from 2 p.m. to welcome the children. During school weeks we collect the children directly from school and start with a joint table moment. Afterwards there is plenty of room for their own initiative: arts & crafts, outdoor play on the school playground, sports and games, or participation in after-school activities organised by the school. Children aged 7 and older may, after signing an independence contract, independently explore the sports field, the grass area and the sand-and-water play garden. During school holidays and study days De Reiger moves to location De Koggerwaard. Here we join forces with the colleagues from De Koggerwaard to create a holiday programme full of creative workshops, sporting challenges and exciting excursions. Regular opening hours are from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; with an adapted contract and sufficient registrations children can be brought from 7 a.m. and picked up until 7 p.m. We work thematically, aligned with the annual cycle of the primary school. Think of themes like ‘Travelling through Europe’, ‘Autumn in the forest’ or ‘Technology & Discovery’. The activities connect with the children’s world of experience and stimulate curiosity, cooperation and self-confidence. Thanks to our small-scale set-up we know every child personally and can respond to individual wishes and talents. Together with parents we create a warm, safe place where children love to come.
