BSO de Pompoen

Nature After-School Care De Pompoen is located at a unique spot: Hoornwerk 2 on Fort Isabella in Vught. We provide after-school care for up to 24 children aged 4 to 12. As soon as school ends, we pick up the children from nearby primary schools and head straight into the forest. Nature is our biggest playground: children climb trees, build huts, search for insects and learn about plants and animals. Our after-school care is situated in a huge attic space above the day care center. This space is set up with corners where children can do crafts, build, play games or simply relax with a book. We work with one vertical group, where younger and older children play together and learn from each other. Outside we have a spacious area where children can run and play freely. We regularly take walks across the Fort Isabella grounds and the adjacent forest. The children help take care of our chickens and rabbit. This gives them a sense of responsibility and connection with nature. Our pedagogical staff guide the children in their discoveries and ensure a safe, homely atmosphere. We believe it's important that children can develop freely and explore their own boundaries, always with respect for each other and nature.
