We are de Mukkenstal, an after-school care (BSO) located on a real working farm at Laagriebroekseweg 26 in Leunen. Our site sits right next to our young-cattle farm, so children experience first-hand what life on a dairy farm is like. They can cuddle our goats and rabbits, help collect eggs and discover where milk and eggs really come from. The animals and nature are not just background—they are an active part of our programme. We believe children develop best when they are free to be themselves, allowed to get dirty and to play outside. Our team of professional pedagogical staff guide them so they can grow, at their own pace, into social, independent and balanced individuals. Our after-school groups are organised horizontally: children of a similar age are placed together. The maximum group size is 30 children, with at least one regular leader assigned to every group. We are affiliated with the United Agricultural Childcare organisation (VAK) and follow their guidelines. Care is available Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. During school holidays we offer holiday care, so parents can rely on us all year round. Besides after-school care we also provide day care and toddler care, but for BSO children are toilet-trained, require no bottles or nappies, and are given every opportunity to play, explore and learn in and with nature.
