BSO de Koele Kikkers

BSO de Koele Kikkers is located in the village community centre ‘De Krakeling’ at Prins Bernhardstraat 1 in Heukelum. We provide after-school care for up to 30 primary-school children per day, aged 4 to 13 years. Thanks to our central position in the village we are easily accessible for families living in Heukelum and the surrounding area. We work with one broad, horizontal group in which children of different ages play and learn together. This set-up encourages social development: younger children learn from the older ones, while older children develop a sense of responsibility by looking after the younger ones. The rooms in De Krakeling can be arranged flexibly, allowing us to respond to the children’s wishes and to the activities we are offering at any given moment. At BSO de Koele Kikkers the child is always at the centre. We provide calm and structure after a busy school day, yet leave plenty of room for the children’s own initiatives and discoveries. We go outside regularly: the village and its immediate surroundings are our playground. In addition, we make use of the facilities in the community centre, such as the large hall for sports and games. Our qualified pedagogical staff are experienced, committed and open to the children’s ideas. Together with parents we create a familiar environment in which every child feels safe and valued. We believe it is important that children can relax after school, follow their own path and, at the same time, discover new things.
