EmsterKOM

EmsterKOM is our after-school care (BSO) location at Hezeweg 40 in Emst, situated on the ground floor of primary school De Sprenge. We provide care for up to 22 children aged 4 to 13. After the last school bell, the children simply walk into our bright, spacious group room that opens directly onto the playground. This seamless connection makes the transition from school to after-school care both easy and familiar. Our work is guided by KOM kinderopvang’s pedagogical policy: we focus on creating emotional safety, developing personal and social competences, and helping children internalise social norms and values. We organise children into fixed base groups and every child is assigned a personal mentor who serves as the main contact for both child and parent. Daily highlights and practical information are shared through the parent app, keeping parents closely involved. Activities are tailored to the children’s interests and range from crafts, outdoor play and board games to special excursions during holidays. On regular school days we balance rest with stimulation: time to unwind after school followed by shared play, discovery and learning. During holidays we may join other KOM BSO locations to offer larger, age-specific activities. Parents and children receive a detailed activity programme well in advance so everyone knows what to expect. Close cooperation with De Sprenge primary school and clear daily handovers between school, parents and our team ensure that every child feels safe, seen and challenged at EmsterKOM.
