De Bosuil

BSO De Bosuil is situated in a unique spot on the edge of the Amerongen forest, right in the middle of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. We provide small-scale after-school care for up to 30 children aged 4 to 12. Our location has a large private outdoor area that we use to the fullest; playing outside and discovering nature are at the heart of everything we do. Children have all the space they need to develop freely. We work in one vertical group, so children of different ages play together and learn from one another. Our pedagogical staff observe and monitor the children closely: we watch what engages them, how they respond, and where their interests lie. We then encourage them to explore by looking, listening, tasting, smelling and feeling. A fixed part of our programme is the vegetable-garden project. Children learn to grow their own vegetables and herbs, discover where food comes from and experience how nature works. We also organise sports and games on our own grounds and in the adjacent forest. We believe that ‘there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing’, so we go outside almost every day. Our vision is clear: the child is central. Every child is accepted as they are, with their own personality and individual possibilities. We create a safe, warm and challenging environment in which children feel at home and can develop at their own pace. Parents who come to us meet a close-knit team that looks after and guides their child with heart and soul.
