BSO Caleidoscoop

Welcome to BSO Caleidoscoop, located on the ground floor of primary school De Caleidoscoop at Hammarskjöldstraat 236 in Hoofddorp. We provide before- and after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. Our qualified staff collect the children directly from their classrooms after school, ensuring a smooth transition from school to care. Our after-school programme is inspired by anthroposophical principles. We place great emphasis on nurturing imagination and imaginative play. The layout of our space and the activities we offer are designed accordingly: we read aloud daily, celebrate seasonal festivals together and involve the children in all preparations. Language and communication are central, helping children express their feelings. Child participation is key. We invite children to help plan the afternoon programme and we use each child’s individual talents – whether they excel at ball games or working creatively with clay – within the group. In this way children learn from one another and discover that everyone has unique strengths. Outdoor play is part of every day. We use the enclosed outdoor area with sandbox, the lower-school playground for younger children and the freerun area for older ones. The school’s gym is also available for sports activities. During holidays and study days we run an exciting activity programme that includes cooking, sports and games, creative workshops and excursions to the forest, a play park or the bowling alley. Our regular opening hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7.00 a.m. – 6.30 p.m.; we also open on Wednesday and Friday when there is sufficient demand.
