Buitenschoolse opvang 't Schelpje

Buitenschoolse opvang ’t Schelpje is located at Albert Soncklaan 9 in the centre of Heerhugowaard and is part of day-care centre ’t Schelpje. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. Our BSO is small-scale, ensuring every child is truly seen and feels at home in a warm, familiar atmosphere. After school we pick the children up from various primary schools in the area. Back at our location there is time to unwind: a piece of fruit and something to drink. The children can then choose free play or join an activity. We work with themes that match the children’s world and still leave room for their own initiatives. Our nature and experience garden is a major asset: children can build huts, discover insects, climb, balance and share adventures. We regularly organise outings to the library, a playground or petting zoo, always with parental consent. During school holidays we offer a holiday programme with full-day care from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. We put together a varied schedule of creative, sporting and nature activities—crafting, cooking, sports and games, drama and plenty of outdoor fun. Groups remain small so every child receives the attention they deserve. Our team consists of permanent, qualified pedagogical staff who have known many of the children since toddlerhood. We work closely with parents: short lines of communication, openness and thinking along with each child’s development are key. Together we ensure that children feel safe, valued and challenged, making them happy to come to BSO.
