Welcome to BSO the Big Friendly Giant – de GVR – right in the heart of Monnickendam! We are one of the four after-school care locations run by Stichting Kinderopvang Waterland, located at Wendelmoet Claesdochterlaan 1A. Since 1996 we have been dedicated to school-age children from 4 to 12 years. Our aim is to offer a homely, safe and challenging place where children can simply ‘hang out’ after school, play games, explore and burn off energy outdoors. Nothing is compulsory; everything is possible. We listen to each child’s needs and tailor our activities accordingly. Two vertical groups welcome up to twenty children, ensuring personal attention for everyone. Our spacious garden is a true adventure. Together with the children we work in our large vegetable garden, learning about nature and the seasons and harvesting our own vegetables and herbs. We also run regular sports clinics, creative workshops, theatre and drama projects and organise exciting excursions during the holidays, keeping the programme fresh and inspiring every day. We pick up from all primary schools in Monnickendam and provide both before-school care (VSO) and after-school care (NSO) as well as holiday care. Fruit and healthy snacks are included; children bring their own packed lunch and drinks. Our team of experienced pedagogical staff is ready every day to make sure your child has a wonderful time. In short, BSO de GVR is the place where children can enjoy themselves, have fun and develop their talents – an environment where you can leave your child with complete peace of mind.
