We are BSO de Schatkist, the after-school care of Welschap Kinderopvang in the heart of Wijk aan Zee. Our small-scale home is located inside primary school De Vrijheit at Dorpsduinen 12. With room for a maximum of 25 children we create a warm, manageable environment where every child can be themselves. What makes us special is our location: from the two bright group rooms you look straight into the dunes. Most of our outdoor space is literally situated in the dune landscape. That is why Schatkist children are true outdoor kids. We run, build, discover and romp in nature every day. Our pedagogical staff apply the principle ‘freedom within boundaries’. A lot is allowed, but children know exactly where the limits are. Inside we offer different play corners so every child can do what they feel like. We work with monthly themes and pay extra attention to children from eight years upwards. Through the children’s council the kids can indicate what they find important. At the moment we are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM. If there is enough interest we will also start on Fridays. During school holidays we join forces with BSO de Anjelier and BSO de Sparkel, making the holiday programme even more fun. In short, at de Schatkist children find peace, space and adventure just a stone’s throw from the sea and the dunes.
