BSO St. Joseph

BSO St. Joseph is part of Kindcentrum St. Joseph and is located within St. Joseph primary school at Prof. Lorentzstraat 4 in Emmeloord. We provide after-school care for up to 70 children aged 4 to 13. Our facility includes two classrooms, two smaller group rooms, and a play hall. These spaces connect to the school corridors, which are also used for activities and free play. Children can enjoy outdoor play and activities in the garden adjacent to the building. We operate two horizontal base groups: 'Lieveheersbeestjes' for children aged 4–7 (max. 22 children) and 'Koolmezen' for children aged 7–13 (max. 26 children). When more than 48 children are enrolled, we also use smaller vertical groups for ages 4–13 (max. 11 children per group). Each group is supported by consistent pedagogical staff to ensure familiarity and stability for the children. Our BSO is open year-round, except on official public holidays and up to two joint study days for education and childcare. We believe in creating a space where children can be themselves, accept one another, and have fun. Outdoor play and nature experiences are central to our approach, as we believe children become healthier, more creative, and more social in a green environment. Every four weeks, we develop a new atelier and activity programme based on the interests and ideas of the children. We offer themed activities, creative projects, sports and games, and regular outings to places such as the forest, museums, or shops. During school holidays, we provide a varied programme in collaboration with BSO Roderik van Voorst at our location. We work closely with Kindcentrum St. Joseph, Kindcentrum Emmelhage, and CBS Koperwiek. For before-school care (VSO) from 07:15 to 08:15, children are welcome with a minimum of 3 registrations. Communication with parents takes place via the parent portal, where photos, reports, and newsletters are shared. Parents can also request extra care or register their child in or out.
