Welcome to BSO Smurfplanet in Lierderholthuis! We provide small-scale, professional after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. Our homely building at Lierderholthuisweg 49a is only 177 metres from Sint Nicolaas primary school; every day our qualified staff walk or cycle the children from school to the BSO so the transition is both safe and sociable. Freedom of choice is at the heart of Smurfplanet. After a busy school day children first unwind with a drink and a biscuit, then decide for themselves what they want to do: romp around in our garden, do crafts, play a computer or board game, or simply chill out. Nothing is compulsory, almost everything is allowed. Once a month we organise a themed afternoon focused on sport, music or culture—think an in-house football tournament, lively zumba class, making music, painting or an outing with the forest ranger. These activities are offered, but taking part is always optional. Our vertical group welcomes up to 20 children each afternoon, supervised by at least two qualified pedagogical staff members certified in paediatric first aid and emergency response. The room is cosy and stimulating, with different play corners that invite discovery and play. We work with familiar faces so every child feels truly at home and the staff know exactly what each child needs. At around 4 p.m. we serve fresh fruit, letting the children choose what they like. On long afternoons and during holiday days we provide an extensive bread meal with brown bread, savoury and sweet toppings and milk products. Parents can choose from three packages: the standard package (school weeks and holidays), the school-weeks package (only the 40 official school weeks) or the holiday package (holidays only). Occasional flexible care is also possible, subject to availability. During holidays we sometimes combine our Hoonhorst and Lierderholthuis locations to create an even broader and more varied programme. The BSO is then open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. We believe children shouldn’t have to come to us—they should want to. That’s why we offer a safe, homely base where fun, relaxation and development go hand in hand.
