BSO Meerdijk

Kindcentrum Meerdijk is located at Frans Halslaan 17 in the center of Waalwijk and is part of Mikz childcare organization. Under the leadership of area manager Anja Geerts, this very cozy fresh-green location offers after-school care for children aged 4 to 13 years. The after-school care opened in May 2025 together with the new modern child center. At our after-school care, children are warmly welcomed after school by a pedagogical professional. There is always time for a nice drink and some healthy snacks. A moment to recover from the busy school day and then enjoy playing! Children have a pleasant time here with a challenging range of activities appropriate to their age. The team of pedagogical professionals provides activities in which children can really express themselves. Together with Meerdijk primary school, we offer children a familiar and trusted place. We find it important to promote a clear pedagogical vision together. Growing up is discovering! That's why we work from a continuous development line, where we guide children step by step in their development. This close cooperation with the school ensures continuity in guidance. We work with the philosophy of the three pedagogues, where children learn most from each other, adults play a guiding role, and the space and materials invite exploratory play. Our pedagogical professionals listen carefully to the children and show involvement by listening carefully to their stories. At Kindcentrum Meerdijk we are mainly outside and move with the rhythm of nature and the seasons. There is a large garden where there is much to discover on the green challenging outdoor area. The emphasis is on experiencing nature and caring together for all that lives. We plant flowers together, pick the reddest strawberry and search for special butterflies. Children learn here what is healthy for themselves and for the environment! Consciously dealing with our environment and healthy nutrition is an important focus for us. We separate waste together with the children and eat biologically responsible treats! We maintain a vegetable garden and we regularly make something delicious from our own grown vegetables and fruit. Fun, tasty and educational! Children can actively participate in caring for the garden and preparing healthy meals. What is observed outside is continued inside in, among other things, a reading corner and a home-and-building corner. There is also a discovery corner where magnifying glasses, funnels, containers and a light table provide the opportunity to view the wonders of nature or to connect a new activity to it. The atmospheric, modern indoor space offers various play corners where children can choose from various activities. Via Jaamo, Mikz's parent portal, parents can find information, photos and stories about their child's well-being. We find it important to listen carefully to parents and coordinate with them.
