BSO Little Family

BSO Little Family, located at Scarlattistraat 1 in Almere, offers after-school care for up to 22 children aged 4 to 12. We welcome the children into a homely environment where each child has a personal box for belongings and where we start by changing into indoor shoes and washing hands. On school days we expect children who need to be taken to school before 8:00 a.m.; after that time we can no longer provide transport. At the end of the school day we pick the children up and bring them to the BSO. Once everyone has arrived we sit down together at the table. Wednesday is our special extended lunch day. In the afternoon the children receive a light meal such as a cracker, fruit or something warm. In between we drink water, tea or occasionally juice. During holidays the children have lunch at the centre, eat fruit in the morning and a cracker in the afternoon. We organise fun activities such as cooking, painting and sewing lessons and regularly go on outings. There is also plenty of room for the children’s own initiatives: crafting, relaxing, making something on the sewing machine or playing a game, at the table or on the Wii. Whenever the weather allows, we go outside to play on a nearby (school) playground. Our pedagogical approach is designed to offer children calm and space after a busy school day. They are free to choose what they want to do, so they can shape the afternoon or day according to their own needs and interests.
