Casca BSO Jacoba

Welcome to Casca BSO Jacoba, our small-scale and welcoming after-school care located right next to Jacobaschool at Lanckhorstlaan 9 in Heemstede. Every day we welcome up to 30 children aged 4 to 8 who want to unwind and simply be themselves after a busy school day. We work in age-specific groups: the Nest for the youngest children and the Honk for the older ones. Around the age of eight, Jacoba children move on to the Bikkels group at our nearby Bronstee location. Our stable and experienced team, led by location manager Eveline, has been making children feel at home for years. We follow each child’s pace and needs. Sometimes that means joining exciting activities such as sports, making music, painting or building a giant hut; sometimes it’s simply curling up on the sofa with a book. During the ten weeks of school holidays each year, BSO Jacoba turns into a festival site with themed programmes covering everything from musicals and Halloween to astronomy. Real-life experts—fire-fighters, bakers, artists or astronomers—are invited to share their knowledge. Our meals are based on the Dutch ‘Wheel of Five’ dietary guidelines. In the afternoons we share whole-grain crackers with cheese, raw vegetables or apple syrup. During holidays and special events we love to make exceptions and bake bread together or run a cooking workshop. Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from school-end until 18:00 (extended care until 18:30). On Wednesday and Friday care takes place at our Bronstee location. During school holidays we are open from 08:00 to 18:00, also with the option until 18:30. We close for three weeks per year: between Christmas and New Year and the middle two weeks of the summer holiday. Communication runs through our parent app and portal, where we share photos, messages and important announcements. Parents can also request swap days or extra sessions. We apply Thomas Gordon’s communication model, ensuring children feel heard and understood, creating a safe and stimulating environment in which every child can grow into a social, emotional and independent individual.
