BSO de Pioniers

Welcome to BSO de Pioniers, part of Royal Kids Home, located at Admiraal de Ruyterstraat 1 in the heart of Krimpen aan de Lek. Our location offers a homely and safe place where children aged 4 to 13 can unwind after school and recharge their batteries. We form an integral child centre together with Christian primary school De Wegwijzer, ensuring a smooth and familiar transition from school to after-school care. At de Pioniers we work in one friendly horizontal group with a maximum of 22 children. This small-scale set-up allows us to give every child personal attention and to respond to his or her individual needs. We work thematically: each season we choose a new theme – think ‘autumn’ or ‘a trip around the world’ – and all activities are linked to it. This keeps our programme varied, creative and challenging. Whenever the weather allows, we go outside every day; our own garden and nearby playgrounds offer plenty of space for romping, sports and games. Creative expression and sport are high on our agenda. Children can do crafts, build, draw or take part in physical activities such as dodgeball, football or dance. We believe it is important that children make their own choices: do you want to read quietly in the cosy corner or would you rather rehearse a play together on our small stage? Anything is possible. We also run regular cooking and baking workshops, where children prepare healthy snacks themselves and learn about nutrition. Our before-school care is open every weekday from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. and after-school care from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. We collect children from De Wegwijzer and other nearby schools. On study days and school holidays we are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and offer a varied holiday programme with extra outings and workshops.
