BSO de Drie Biggetjes

BSO de Drie Biggetjes is located on the same grounds as day-care centre De Drie Biggetjes at Wetering 3 in the rural village of Hertme. Since 2025 we operate from a single site where children aged 4 to 13 from nearby towns such as Borne, Hertme, Hengelo, Saasveld and Deurningen are welcome after school. Our after-school groups are housed in the buildings ‘de Bokkesprong’ and ‘de Insectentuin’, each with its own outdoor area, preserving a small-scale, familiar atmosphere. We collect the children by minibus from St. Aegidius (Hertme) and from the Optimist, Beekpark, Vonder and Horsten primary schools (all in Borne). Children in group 5 and above may cycle to us; they receive a reflective vest from BSO de Drie Biggetjes. During term time we are open from the end of the school day until 17.45, with the option to book an extra quarter or half hour. In holiday weeks we offer flexible drop-off between 7.45 – 9.00 a.m. and 12.45 – 1.30 p.m., and pick-up until 5.45 p.m. Animals are at the heart of our approach. On our grounds you will find donkeys, chickens, goats, sheep, rabbits, pot-bellied pigs and a pony; in summer cows often graze in the surrounding fields. The children help care for the animals, which strengthens their sense of responsibility and boosts self-confidence. Our spacious outdoor areas invite children to play football, build huts, garden or simply enjoy free play in nature. Our qualified pedagogical staff meet the requirements of the Dutch Childcare Collective Labour Agreement and work in a fixed ratio of at least one professional to five children, ensuring every child receives the attention they deserve. We are open all year round except for national holidays and the Friday after Ascension Day. An intake interview and settling-in period are standard, giving both child and parents a warm start at BSO de Drie Biggetjes.
