BSO De Boomhut

Welcome to BSO De Boomhut, located at Burgemeester Bothenius Lohmanlaan 40D in Burgum. Our after-school care is housed in the former clubhouse of local football club BCV, right next to sports fields, a tennis club and the sports hall. The site has room for up to 54 children in two vertical BSO groups for children aged 4 to 12. At De Boomhut, learning through play is key. We believe play offers children chances to make friends, discover the world, understand rules and—most importantly—have fun. Our pedagogical staff challenge children, guide activities and actively join in the games. After a long school day, a child is also allowed to simply do nothing: lounging on the couch with a book is perfectly fine. Our activity programme is broad and varied. Sports and exercise are important pillars, thanks to our unique location next to the fields. We also cook and bake regularly, do arts and crafts in the creative corner and make full use of our own makerspace. In the makerspace, children can experiment with a 3D printer, robotics materials and a small studio, discovering how technology and creativity come together. During school holidays and teacher training days we organise extra excursions and themed days; sometimes children from other BSO locations in Burgum join in. Every day at 14:00 we pick up the children from the three primary schools in Burgum with our BSO bus. Children who have parental permission may also cycle to us independently. Parents looking for before-school care can also turn to us. In short, BSO De Boomhut is a safe, homely place where children can be themselves, try new things and share adventures together.
