BSO Cornelius

BSO Cornelius is the after-school care unit of Kindcentrum Cornelius in Venhorst. We provide before-school, after-school and holiday care for up to 44 children aged 4 to 13. Our unit is located in the same building as the primary school and offers a large group room on the first floor, an auditorium and—when needed—the gym of the adjacent community centre De Horst. We run two base groups: Kei Kids 1 and Kei Kids 2, each with a maximum of 22 children. This small-scale approach allows our pedagogical staff to know every child and parent personally. Each afternoon starts with a shared fruit and drink moment around the table. After that, children choose their own path: free play in our garden, a craft activity such as making a seasonal project, or sports with Kwiek. Through our partnership with Kwiek, children enjoy weekly structured sports and movement sessions focused on fun and motor development. Our pedagogical climate is designed to give children emotional security, strengthen personal and social competences, and pass on values and norms. Fixed days and familiar faces ensure that children always have trusted peers and staff around them. A pedagogical coach regularly supports our team; during the most recent visit she observed our fruit moment and provided tailored guidance. During school holidays we also welcome children from BSO Havelt in Handel, creating new friendships and a lively group. Parents arrange drop-off and pick-up themselves; our central location on Sint Josephplein makes this convenient. In short, BSO Cornelius offers children a familiar place to play, discover and grow after school.
