BSO Bij de Handjes

Welcome to BSO Bij de Handjes, located at Bloemakkers 17 in Gieten. We are a small-scale after-school care facility with 36 places, specially designed for children aged 4 to 12. Our team consists of permanent, pedagogically trained staff members who already know your child from the toddler group, ensuring a smooth transition to after-school care. We pick up children from four primary schools in the region: OBS Gieten, OBS Bonnen, OBS Prins Willem Alexander in Eext, and OBS De Dobbe in Gasselte. After school, we enjoy a drink and a cookie together at our large table, after which we make plans for the afternoon. Our spaces are tailored to the age and experience level of the children: there is a construction corner, doll corner, reading corner, and a crafting area in the kitchen. Outside, we have a panna court, covered sandboxes, and our own children's farm that is exclusively accessible to parents and children of Bij de Handjes. Every day, we offer varied activities: we bake bread, make jam or pizza, craft around themes and holidays, undertake nature outings to the forest and our children's farm, and conduct fun scientific experiments. Children are occasionally allowed to bring a friend from school, and we can take children to and from sports or music lessons if this fits within our drop-off and pick-up schedule. Our location is situated on the edge of the industrial estate in Gieten, with ample parking facilities. Parents can reach all directions via the N33 or N34 to their work. We believe it is important that children feel at ease, that there is plenty of contact with parents, and that it feels like one big family. We work exclusively with pedagogically trained staff who have the appropriate diplomas and a certificate of good conduct. Parents always maintain control, and everything is done in consultation with your wishes.
