Boerderij de Balije

Welcome to BSO Boerderij de Balije, located at Augustusweg 36 in De Meern. As part of gro-up childcare, we provide after-school care for up to 52 children aged 4 to 12. Our setting is truly special: children step straight from school into an authentic farm environment, complete with stable windows and original details that preserve the charm of a real farmhouse. We operate with a vertical group structure. Children are welcomed into one close-knit community where older and younger kids play, learn and discover together. This not only fosters social development but also encourages natural leadership and caring behaviour. Our qualified pedagogical staff guide each child at their own pace and according to their individual interests. Outside, our spacious green playground is designed around the concept of Natural Play. Children climb, run and hide among trees, shrubs and natural materials. Animals are part of daily life: together we care for the chickens, goats and rabbits, learning respect for living creatures. Quiet activities such as reading in the cosy book corner or creative crafts with natural materials are always available. Structure and freedom alternate. After school there is time for a healthy snack and drink, then children choose whether to join an activity or play freely. We offer themed projects linked to seasons, animals and sustainability, tailored to the children’s world of experience. Parents follow their child’s adventures through our parent app, which includes photos and short reports. BSO Boerderij de Balije is more than childcare: it is a place where children feel safe, make friends and joyfully discover who they are.
