Best 4 Kids - De Hoeve

Best 4 Kids – De Hoeve is located in the historic Overste Douvenrade farmhouse, a national heritage site situated in the Terworm nature reserve in Heerlen. We provide after-school care (BSO) and holiday care for children aged 4 to 12. Our educational approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and by the surrounding nature: every day we go outside or bring nature inside. Our BSO is designed to give children rest, space and adventure after a busy school day. We pick the children up directly from school – currently we partner with Sint Martinus primary school – and bring them to our safe, green environment where they can play, explore and unwind. During holiday weeks we are open from 07:30 to 18:30; on regular school weeks you can collect your child between 17:00 and 18:30. Inside the old walls of the farmhouse we have created a homely yet challenging setting: an atelier full of creative materials, cosy corners for building or reading, and a large garden with natural play areas. We work with fixed core groups in which children of different ages come together. These vertical groups encourage collaboration, responsibility and social skills. Our team of qualified pedagogical staff is ready every day to guide the children in their play, give them space and provide safety. We tailor our activities to the children’s world of experience: from building huts in the woods to crafting with natural materials and cooking together at the campfire site.
