BSO Berenhuis, De Berenburcht, Kindcentrum Wij-land is located at Bunzinghage 24 in Berlicum and is part of Stichting Kinderopvang Berenhuis. We provide after-school care for 110 children aged 4 to 13. Our modern building contains four spacious group rooms and is situated within walking distance of primary school Wij-land, with which we cooperate closely in one integral child centre. Our before-school care starts at 07:30 and after-school care is available until 18:30. We are open every school day and during all school holidays, except for the week between Christmas and New Year. During regular school weeks we offer a 40-week package; parents can also opt for a holiday-care package of 7 or 11 weeks. Children enjoy a varied programme full of sports, culture and creative activities. We collaborate with professionals who provide dance clinics, theatre courses and artistic workshops. Twice a school year we run the Berenhuis Art Studio: a three-week series in which children work with a professional artist on different techniques. In addition, we frequently go on trips—survival climbing on a real wall, visiting the observatory or going on nature treasure hunts. During theme weeks such as Animal Week or Sports Week we organise special activities like a birds-of-prey show or a visit to a local gym. Children have a say through the children’s council. Several times a year they meet with our pedagogical staff and the location manager to discuss ideas and wishes. In this way they actively contribute to the development of their own child centre. Together we create a safe, challenging place where every child feels at home and can grow at his or her own pace.
