BSO Jan Ligthart

Welcome to BSO Jan Ligthart, located in the same spacious and bright school building as Jan Ligthart Primary School at Talmastraat 1 in Zelhem. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. Our location is a familiar place where children can relax, play and develop after school. Our pedagogical staff are ready every day to guide the children with care. We work in a homely atmosphere where every child can be themselves. We believe it is important that children learn to interact well with each other. That is why we encourage independence and give room for personal choices. We offer a varied range of activities, such as arts and crafts, sports and games, and nature and outdoor activities. We also regularly organize excursions. We work closely with Jan Ligthart Primary School and other schools in the area. We pick up the children from school and ensure a smooth transition from school to the after-school care. During school weeks we offer before-school care from 07:30 to 08:30 and after-school care. During school holidays we are open all day from 07:30 to 18:00. Our location has its own green and challenging outdoor playground where children can romp to their heart's content. Inside there is plenty of space to play, relax or do homework. We think it is important that children have a say in our after-school care. That is why we have the children's participation game, with which children can contribute ideas for activities and play materials. Children also receive their own budget to decide together what to do with it, such as a fun outing or new toys. We believe good communication with parents is very important. At the end of the childcare day, we take the time to briefly discuss with each child and parent how the day went. We take into account the wishes and needs of each child and try to accommodate special dietary requirements where possible. Fruit and drinks are included and during holiday care we have lunch together.
