BSO De Horizon

BSO De Horizon is located inside Kindcentrum De Horizon at Meipoortwal 1 in the centre of Doesburg. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 who attend De Horizon primary school or another nearby school. Because our after-school space is in the same building as the school, children simply walk in after classes; it feels safe and familiar. We work closely with the teachers of De Horizon primary school. We align our themes and activities with what is being taught in class, creating one continuous developmental and learning line. Our pedagogical staff consult regularly with the internal supervisor and the teachers about each child’s progress. This allows us to respond specifically to the children’s needs and further develop their talents. The spacious, homely after-school room offers plenty of opportunities to play, relax and discover new things. We have a wide variety of age-appropriate play materials: from construction and craft corners to a cosy reading nook and a table-tennis table for sporty challenges. In our garden children can romp, play football or simply enjoy being outside. The youngest children have a separate outdoor area with smaller play equipment. Children are encouraged to help decide on the activities. We organise creative workshops, sports and games, nature and technology projects and joint outings. During the holidays we put together an exciting holiday programme in cooperation with BSO De Wetelaar, full of adventure and discovery. Think of scavenger hunts through Doesburg, craft afternoons, sports days and visits to fun places in the region. Our vision is simple: play, learn and live together with pleasure. We want every child to feel seen and valued. That is why we offer a warm, safe environment with room for personal initiative and where children learn to take each other into account. We believe it is important for children to develop self-confidence, stay curious and have the courage to take on challenges.
