KDV de Planthof is located on the same premises as primary school De Planthof at de Fjord 44 in Emmeloord. We provide day-care for children from 0 to 4 years in two horizontal groups: a baby group (0-2 years) and a toddler group (2-4 years). Our centre works closely with the primary school; every week the toddlers play outside together with the kindergarten children. This makes the transition to school much smoother. We operate from a Christian identity. We sing Christian children’s songs, say grace before meals and want children to experience God’s love. Activities are organised around themes; the theme ‘Autumn’, for example, is reflected in books, word cards, discovery and craft corners. We use materials from the KIKI method and ideas from Pinterest. In addition, there is plenty of room for free play, outdoor play on the familiar schoolyard or in the nearby park, and creative expression such as painting, singing and movement. Our pedagogical staff follow the policy of CKO KleurRijk. Continuity in the daily rhythm, emotional safety and personal attention are central. We closely monitor each child’s development and tailor activities to the children’s level. For the youngest we provide a calm, safe environment with fixed care routines; for toddlers we gradually offer more stimuli and challenges. Everything takes place in a homely atmosphere where fun, security and mutual respect are paramount. Included in our care are nappies, wipes, fruit, bread meals and drinks. Warm meals and formula are provided by parents. We take food allergies and other special needs into account. Half-day care is possible and flexible extra days can be booked in consultation. Parents register their child through KleurRijk and are informed well in advance about placement.
