AKROS Voorschool de Waterkant

Welcome to AKROS Voorschool de Waterkant! Since 1 February 2019 our preschool is located on the ground floor of primary school De Waterkant, right in the green Bilderdijkpark in Amsterdam West. We provide toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 in our own bright classroom with direct access to the playground. Our preschool follows the VVE programme Kaleidoscoop. Through play we stimulate language development, practise social skills and offer a first introduction to numeracy. Themes connect to toddlers’ world of experience: we read picture books, sing songs, craft with various materials and make music. Outdoor play and discovery in the school garden are of course part of the day. We work in a horizontal group with a maximum of 16 children guided by two regular, dedicated pedagogical staff members. Cooperation with primary school De Waterkant is intensive: we share spaces, apply Dalton elements and thus ensure a smooth transition to group 1. Around the child’s third birthday parents receive all information for enrolment in primary school. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8.15 am to 1.35 pm. During the morning children receive a healthy bread meal and fresh fruit. We take allergies and dietary requirements into account.
