Making the Netherlands More Family-Friendly? Share Your Childcare Experience
Kiddie's mission is to make finding childcare simple for parents and to help them make well-informed decisions. We want to make life a little easier for (expecting) parents and give them the support they need. Life as a parent in 2025 comes with plenty of challenges β but where can parents actually make their voices heard?
Your Voice Matters: The Annual Survey
That's why Kiddie is proud to support the annual research initiative by the Stichting voor Werkende Ouders (Foundation for Working Parents). Using the results, they compile the State of the Family (Staat van het Gezin) report, which is presented on 15 May β International Day of Families.
These findings form an important foundation for conversations with policymakers and other stakeholders. They provide concrete insights to help improve the situation for families across the Netherlands. By taking part in this survey, you're directly contributing to a more family-friendly Netherlands.

Results: State of the Family 2024
The Stichting voor Werkende Ouders conducts annual research among parents to assess how family-friendly the Netherlands really is. As the name suggests, the foundation advocates on behalf of working parents β acting as their voice in politics and society. You can read more about them in this article.
The State of the Family 2024 revealed that parents felt a significant lack of social solidarity. Parents gave the Netherlands a score of just 4.1 out of 10. While the Netherlands is considered a safe country to live in, 52% of parents said that public services and provisions could be better and didn't match their actual needs.
